At the intermediate level, you will find yourself in the position of carrying a conversation in Japanese. Discovering that you can communicate with people in Japanese is truly exciting, isn’t it?

Sasuga Japanese Academy’s Intermediate 1 Class is the lowest level of the intermediate classes and is designed for students who have already achieved their basic proficiency (about 100 hours or more of in-class instruction).

The students who might be ready for Sasuga’s Intermediate 1 Class are those who have already studied all 4 basic forms of verbs ( Dictionary form, Masu-form, Te-from, and Nai-form), and are experienced with around 100 Kanji characters, and of course, students who would like to progress the language at an advanced level. This is a suggested benchmark.

After your completion of Intermediate 1, you will move on to Intermediate 2. You will continue to learn various expressions by using the four basic forms of verbs you have mastered in the Japanese Intermediate 1 class. In addition, you will start to understand how to use honorific and modest forms and when it is adequate to use casual speech.  

After your completion of Intermediate 2, you are ready to move on to Intermediate 3 to complete the entire textbook of Genki2!  In the Intermediate 4, after completing the kanji characters in the Genki2, then students begin to use another textbook, the Intermediate Japanese 中級の日本語 ( ISBN 978-4-7890-1307-9 )

Our small class -maximum of 5 – allows students to speak more in the classroom. Students will create sentences in Japanese and be encouraged to speak in a fun and nurturing class environment.

This intermediate class will be your first step to prepare for the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) N4.
